Product Review:The Kiddie Couch
When I find a parent hack or product that is a game-changer in the mamahood, I have to share the love.
So let’s talk about the Kiddie Couch. My word, this one is a lifesaver.
Here in Canada we experience winter weather all over the map, from rain to hail to blizzards … and that’s just Tuesday. Sometimes it’s tough to get outside ... or you just can’t force yourself to get up off the couch to go to the park again (no judgement here). So finding ways to help our kiddos get their energy out inside is crucial.
Why is it important for our kiddos to be physically active each day? If they don’t get enough energy out, their awake times will adjust. Not all wake windows are made equal and the body assesses and adapts those windows over time to accommodate the amount of sleep it needs. We also need to move to keep our hearts healthy!
Here is why I love the Kiddie Couch and would recommend investing in one for your family:
It encourages movement. Say goodbye to a couch’s association with a potato, because this baby will have your babies climbing, tumbling, lifting, and sliding. Nevermind the added benefits of learning to climb, be brave, crawl, create, and challenge themselves.
It is flexible. As a parent, I appreciate flexibility in any form, whether from a person or inanimate object. You don’t judge me for being 15 minutes late to our coffee date, and this couch won’t either. The Kiddie Couch is all about open-ended, child-led play (aka. the best kind). There are so many different ways to set it up. Cue imagination fireworks. Cue mom being able to finish a full cup of coffee while the littles play. You heard me, a FULL cup. AND my 11 month old loves it just as much as my 3.5 year old. It is so versatile!
It lasts forever. This is a safe, durable product that cleans well and can be used in a variety of forms for years. I plan to use the larger mats for future Friday night sleepovers. As an older child (and adult … let’s be real), fort-building and obstacle-course racing never get old. This is a product that is mulit-functional and that you don’t need to donate at the next developmental leap because it has endless possibilities.

The drawbacks to the product?
It’s tough to get the covers back on after washing. On the plus side, When I change the covers, I can consider my “workout” done for the day, grab an iced tea, sit back, and watch the kids play.
You’ll want a second one to make more obstacle courses. Seriously, this thing is magic.
